It was by chance that we came across Mikado at the Fayre Oaks Sale in 2007. Not only were we attracted to him by his brilliant colour but his overall make and shape is very correct for a smaller type of mountain pony.

His huge front and small head is complimented by an equally correct hind leg; combining these with an abundance of bone and free movement, he is just the sort of stallion which might breed for us a leading rein type currently in demand with the added bonus of an attractive colour.

‘Micky’ has the most marvellous temperament.

For a long time we have admired the Springbourne and Blanche ponies. Therefore we are delighted that we have managed to acquire a stallion which combines some of the best bloodlines from that stud along with some Revel breeding of which we have been long-time fans. His sire was a champion when shown as a youngster and comes from an outstanding female line of champions.

Mikado’s dam herself has been a prolific winner and was Reserve Young Stock Champion at the Royal Welsh. She also produced the top priced colt foal at Fayre Oaks 2006 that was exported to Australia.

Mikado has been lightly but successfully shown and has produced winners in the show ring.

In 2007, his son Blanche Goldwyn was Supreme Champion at The Home Counties WPCA Foal and Youngstock Show; he is being retained as a stallion.
